Designing Voice AI for Real Operations

Conversation design, latency, escalation, consent, and integration for voice agents that represent a business.

Voice AI succeeds when it handles a defined part of the service journey reliably. Natural speech matters, but operational integration and a graceful handoff matter more.

01

Define the job and boundary

Specify which intents the agent owns, what it may disclose or change, how identity is verified, and when a person must take over.

02

Optimise for spoken interaction

Keep prompts brief, confirm critical details, handle interruption, tolerate imperfect audio, and communicate waiting states. Latency should be measured turn by turn.

03

Connect the conversation to work

A call should produce structured outcomes: appointments, tickets, qualification, summaries, or updates. Capture consent and retain appropriate audit records.

The Dynetiks perspective

Strong technology begins with the complete operating context. Connect the disciplines early, validate against real constraints, and design for the lifecycle—not merely the launch.
